The Commission on Elections will set aside its special elections on Bulacan, Basilan, and Lanao del Sur.
According to Commissioner Rene Sarmiento, the said move was due to hampered contract with Smartmatic.
Because of this they have agreed to reschedule elections on the said areas on November 6.
According to Sarmiento, it will be better if the elections will be postponed so that they can prepare for it.
Earlier Comelec stated that they will hold special polls on October 2, on the said areas.

DOJ opens possibility that some victims may have died due to "friendly shot"

DOJ opens possibility that some of the victims on the August 23 bloody hostage-taking tragedy may have died due to "friendly fire," said Justice Secretary Leila De Lima.
De Lima said that forensic findings are inconsistent – as the testimony of bus driver Alberto Lubang stated that victims were shot at closely.
Findings of the Philippine National Police-Scene of the Crime Operations (PNP-Soco) and the National Bureau of Investigations (NBI), stated that hostage-taker Rolando Mendoza used an M16 rifle, and they presumed that the wounds sustained by the victims should have been bigger and there would be more blood spatters.

FDA announces new list of banned cosmetics

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a statement on newly-banned cosmetics that had high mercury content.
According to FDA Director Natira Tacandong they have released a list of the said beauty products from Taiwan and Japan.
1. St. Dalfour Beauty Whitening Cream
2. Beauty Girl Papaya & Hawthorn Essence
3. Beauty Girl Ginseng & Green Cucumber
4. Beauty Girl Essence Aloe Pearl
5. Beauty Girl Olive & Sheep Essence
Through the FDA Circular 2010-015, the agency was given the authority to confiscate the said products on commercial establishments and outlets.
According to the FDA, the said products breached R.A. 9711, because of its severe effects on the health of consumers.
The FDA asked the cooperation of Local Government Units (LGUs) as well consumers and business owners.

Solon calls for higher budget for meager-earning farmers

Anakpawis Party-List Representative Rafael Mariano appealed for higher funds for the agriculture sector especially to the meager farmers in the country.
According to Mariano the move will show that the country acknowledges low-earning farmers in the country, through a House Bill 3105 or the Rice Industry Development Act of 2010.
The said move aims to strengthen the procurement capability of the National Food Authority, whereas; they will be allotting P15 Billion for the seed fund and P3 B for the production subsidy.
Among the benefits that will be offered are loaning, irrigation, reconstruction of post-harvest facilities, systematize level of distribution, marketing, and other services.
The Lawmaker believes that the said law will be the key to flourish the once abundant agricultural industry in the country.

Ampatuan Jr. wants everyone killed, even media--witness

Sa mensahe ng Pangulo kasabay ng paglulunsad ng Philippines Fourth Progress Report hinggil sa MDG, sinabi ng Pangulo na significant na ang nagagawa ng gobyerno para maitaas ang buhay ng mga Pilipino.
Ayon sa Pangulo, naibaba na umano ang bilang ng mga batang namamatay dahil sa sakit at napalawak pa ang nabibiyayaan ng malinis na iinuming tubig.

Noynoy confident to reach millennium goal

President Noynoy Aquino is confident that the country will be able to reach its Millennium Development Goal (MDG) on 2015.
Earlier, the government set its target: to fight poverty, improve maternal health benefits, and alleviate the standard of education in the country.
The Millennium Challenge Corporation bestowed $434 Million dollars grant for the Philippines.
The President stated on the Philippines Fourth Progress Report that the government’s move is significant to uphold the lives of the Filipinos and alleviate their stature.

PRC budget set aside, Former PGMA appointees twitted

The Professional Regulation Commission’s (PRC) budget was interfered because of the midnight appointees of Former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Congress hearing stated that the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) approved the Motion of the House Appropriations Committee Nueva Vizcaya Rep. Carlos Padilla to set aside the budget for the PRC, because of the midnight appointees.
Padilla noted that Arroyo had 41 midnight appointees in Malacanang’s PRC, and two of it were Commissioners.
Dole Secretary Rosalinda Baldos confirmed that Antonio Almario and Nilo Rosas took the post in PRC last April, as the election ban pushes through-- and appointing of government officials is illegal.

Singson’s bail lengthened

Philippine lawmaker and music promote Ronald Singson accused of drug trafficking in Hong Kong told a court Tuesday he could not enter a plea to the charges because he was currently under medical treatments.
Singson was arrested in Hong Kong's international airport , July for allegedly carrying 26 grams cocaine on his luggage.
His lawyer, Atty. John Reading, appealed to the district court to adjourn the case-- because Singson is currently "undertaking medical treatment" and will not be able to issue his plea until he receives his medical report.
Judge Kevin Browne resumed the case October 19 and extended the effectivity of Singson’s bail.
Earlier, Singson has posted one million Hong Kong dollars (128,000 US dollars) bail, with the help of two friends.

At around 6:00 am in the morning, the oil company implemented a P.50 increase on the price of their petroleum products.
According to Chevron Communications Manager Tody Nebrida, gasoline, kerosene, and diesel products will incur the said increases.
