35 dead in bus accident in Benguet

35 passengers were pronounced dead while six others were seriously wounded after a passenger bus drove through a ravine in Benguet province Wednesday morning, said a police report.

Police Spokesman Senior Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. detailed that the Eso Nice bus (AYB 549) went out of control in a the cranky highway in Barangay (village) Banangan, Sablan town at around 9:20 a.m.

The bus, is routed for La Union from Baguio City, and had 47 passengers on it when it had fallen in a 35 feet ravine.

Police found the bodies of 35 passengers, while 6 passengers were rescued in the incident, sustaining serious complications.

John Patrick Flores the bus conductor survived the accident by jumping out of the bus door before the vehicle had fallen into a ravine.

Mindoro rocked by 4.6 magnitude quake

Magnitude 4.6 quake rocked Mindoro at around 8:22 am in the morning.

According to PHILVOLCS, the epicentre of earthquake was estimated to be at the 24 km north-west of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro with a depth of 10 kilometers from its tectonic origin.


Intesity 3 was felt off Mamburao, Puerto Galera (Oriental Mindoro), and Ilijan, Batangas.


PHILVOLCS warned the provinces of expected aftershocks.

Sulu fisherman killed, by suspected pirates

Sulu Fisherman was killed while his friends were wounded after three suspected pirates attacked their boat while fishing this Friday in Sirum Island in Siasi, Sulu.


The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) identified the victim as Patah Abarra, 23.


As of now Abarra's companion Vidang Biddol, 20 was receiving medical treatments at a government clinic in Siasi, said authorities.


PCG sought the help of the police and military, to arrest the said pirates.
Earlier, the PCG detachment in Nasugbu Batangas recovered an unidentified body in Limbones Island coastal municipality.

Elementary teacher/activist killed over the weekend

An Elementary school teacher and member of party-list group ACT Teachers was killed this weekend.

Perhaps he is the third member of the leftist group, in the extra-judicial killings record under the administration of President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino.


27 year old Mark Francisco who teaches at the San Isidro Elementary School in Palanas, Masbate, was on his way home last Friday with his four friends when he was shot in Sitio (sub-village) Umawas, Barangay (village) Malibas by two armed men.


Francisco was dead on the spot, while his co-teachers managed to escape the attackers.
Act Teachers Partylist Representative Antonio Tinio condemned the incident and appealed to the government to extend security among Francisco’s friends as they are witnesses to the crime.

Mangudadatu unveils new witness on Ampatuan Massacre

Maguindanao Governor-Elect Esmael Mangudadatu will present before the court a new witness that will fortify the massacre case against the Ampatuans.

According Mangudadatu, their new witness will expose deeper truths on the massacre case, as he grew up with the Ampatuan family.

The newly-appointed governor stated that the alibis of Ampatuan can be reversed because of their new witness.

According to Mangudadatu, the witness was scared to expose himself, as there will be threats against his life if so he chooses to speak up.

The witness heeded help authorities after he overheard the family-- talking about having him seized as he can appear as a witness on the massacre case.

School for natural farming pushes through

Farmers Field School aims to teach all farmers the right way of planting crops to produce high-quality vegetables, from taking care of it, and to the use of Organic fertilizers, that are said to be Environment friendly.


The said natural farming system under the Gulayan Project, are the focus of the Farmers Field School, in Barangay Santiago, Iriga.


According to the Provincial Agriculture Office in Camarines Sur, there 50 vegetable producers who joined the said training coming from different barangays and neighoring provinces.


The said training programs aims to educate Filipino farmers with the Natural Farming system--or the Organic Liquid Fertilizer, through the use of fermented plant juice, fermented fruit juice, fish amino acids, and indigenous micro-organisms.

Abu Sayyaf member, twitted mastermind on Swiss National kidnapping

Authorities had been investigating the involvement of Abu Jahid on the abduction of the Swiss- Filipino National Charlie Rieth.

This was after Rieth mentioned in a press conference yesterday the name of Abu Jahid, who he points out to be responsible for the kidnapping.

Jahid was said to be a member of the kidnap for ransom group who nabbed the victim, and asked for ransom.

According to the Naval Force of the Western Mindanao Commander Rear Admiral Alexandra Pama, the military were not able to identify the rumored member of the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf.

3 Communists killed in brawl with militia forces

3 alleged communist New People's Army (NPA) s were killed in an encounter this morning with the government troops in Batangas province Thursday, said a military spokesman.


Army spokesman Maj. Ronald Jess Alcudia noted that the Second Infantry Division (ID) sent a report stating that the Sitio Tagusan in Taysan town's Mabayabas village.


Alcudia stated that the elements from the Philippine Air Force's 74Oth combat group under the Army's 202nd Brigade brawled it out with 2O NPA rebels at 4:45 a.m., resulting to death of three rebels and wounding of one soldier, and an insurgent.


The government forces captured three rebels and found M16 rifles, one M203 Grenade Launcher, two rifle grenades, and one Motorola hand-held radio form them.


According to Lt. Col. Noel Detoyato, spokesman for the Army's 2nd ID the said NPA rebels are up to extortion.

COMELEC sets date for Special election

Amidst the opposition of some Muslim leaders the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) set a date for the special elections on affected areas.

Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez stated that the special elections will be on May 28 in Lanao del Sur and two more barangays in Ilo-ilo and Samar.

Earlier, Muslim leaders off Lanao del Sur appealed to the Comelec to change the schedule of the polls on Friday,-- as it was regarded as the Islamic Holy day.

Jimenez stated that they are open for suggestions, but they noted that there should be formal petition for such.

The Comelec Spokesman added that, the said votes will have no effect on Senatorial, Presidential, Vice-Presidential races, but is needed for party-list, and local official appointment.

BEI Inspector murdered in Cotabato

A Board of Election Inspector (BEI) was dead off the province of Cotabato.


The victim was identified as Emma Galvez a Principal of the Flauta Elementary School in Barangay Lower Glad Midsayap, North Cotabato.


After killing Galvez, the unidentified men poured chemical all over her body.
Police detailed that the suspects barged in her home and stabbed her to death.
The unidentified men quickly left the place after the crime.


Authorities brushed off claims of suicide --as the victim had seven stabs all over her body, and cannot succumb to die that way.
